It’s Getting Serious

Inflation is up. Trump is actively defunding the Department of Education. Educators and parents are increasingly reporting adolescents and teens unable to think critically or write full length papers. There is rampant use and promotion of AI throughout our media. Print media is dead! Everything is virtual. Instagram keeps installing lame ass updates. Why is no one doing anything? Why aren’t we saying anything? AI is making art and realistic videos. Why are we walking around like everything is all fine and dandy? What are the white people saying? Surely, they cannot approve of this.

Various healthcare, education, design, social science and business degrees including Nursing, Physical Therapy (PT), Engineering, and Social Work will no longer be considered professional degrees. Are we okay? Wasn’t COVID not that long ago? Aren’t the Epstein files presenting themselves? Aren’t more and more people being accused and convicted of being pedos and weirdos? Children cannot read. They need people to talk to. We all do. Lack of professional consideration means less funding for students majoring in said degrees. Less funding means that those in need may not be able to afford higher education at all, or they may feel forced to settle for career paths that require little financial investment. In other cases, the programs they do want may require so much money that the potential debt becomes too overwhelming to even consider. By the way, it is important to acknowledge that the majority of people dependent upon college funding and federal student loans are lower and middle-class individuals, many of whom are Black and Brown students in America. Many of those whose families traveled here to receive better education, opportunity and quality of life for themselves and family. Who will enter these fields? High demand will find low supply. Lack of workers means lack of pay. These jobs will fizzle out. What will be the replacement?

But then again, I see the incessant, daily cycle of job fatigue and honestly…fuck that too. I would wholeheartedly say, ‘fuck them jobs, let’s make our own and build a life doing what we love.’ And trust me, I really do believe that. It’s just that I’m now only four courses away from graduating with a master’s in Mental Health Counseling, so I’m particularly peeved at recent events.

My solution: PRINT MEDIA MUST MAKE A RETURN. RAW AND CREATIVE PRINT MEDIA. In an age where everything is fake, created by AI, propaganda, and a veering away from real knowledge and truth, perhaps candid writers, revolutionists and creatives can enlighten us.

I’m starting to think the adults are dumb.

I turn 25 soon.
